About

Aaron Dick, the artisan behind Clay Stock, brings a distinctive blend of culinary and ceramic expertise to his craft. A former chef turned potter, Dick channels his 22-year culinary background into creating exceptional dinnerware for restaurants and food enthusiasts.

The transition from plating dishes to crafting them proved to be a natural evolution for Dick. His understanding of both the culinary and ceramic arts allows him to create pieces that seamlessly merge functionality with artistic expression. Like his previous work in the kitchen, his pottery transforms raw materials into items that enhance the dining experience.

2023 marked a significant milestone in Dick's artistic development. Through a workshop with renowned potter Jono Pandolfi, he learned advanced techniques like Jigger and Jolly. While maintaining his commitment to handcrafted plates, these new methods streamlined his bowl production. His achievements garnered recognition from Eugene magazine, highlighting his emerging presence in the artisan pottery scene.

Dick's work now graces more than 30 restaurants throughout Oregon and Washington. Each piece reflects his dedication to combining aesthetic appeal with practical durability, serving both culinary professionals and their patrons.

"We have loved working with Aaron at Clay Stock. Visually, his work speaks for itself. There's a simple elegance that creates a perfect backdrop for food, but leaves room for the details of texture, color, and lines. The process of working with him involved the same care that so clearly goes into his product. We were so appreciative of the follow-up and the communication that continued even after the work was completed. His pieces stand up, both in durability and resilience and continue to be a pleasure to use and create with. Thank you, Aaron!"

"I knew I wanted to work with Aaron from our first conversation. Pottery being produced with a culinary background and subsequent lens could only be amazing - and it is. Backed by a serious level of integrity, Clay Stock's dinnerware is as beautiful as it is durable and our food program only benefits from its use and our relationship with Aaron."
